STATEMENT
My passion is painting. I derive the greatest pleasure from nature studies because it is exciting to closely observe an animal, to get to know its personality through the animal’s eyes, and to feel the fur or feathers with my eyes. As I grow as an artist I find that I “see” more clearly the colors and textures of plants, trees, flowers and the world around us. The array of colors found outside can also be observed in the foods that we eat, so recently I added a study of food.

BIO
I graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in education. Years later, after staying home to raise two sons, I began a career which ended as the Director of Risk Management at Duke Regional Hospital. Art, specifically painting, has always been an interest that I could not pursue due to the demands of family and a full-time career. When I was able to take early retirement in 2004 I immediately began pursuing art, specifically painting, which had always been an interest. Sharon lives in Durham, NC.
