Louise Francke

In my current acrylic paintings, I work predominantly from aerial or out of space viewpoints of the earth. Imaginary maps, from a time before man took flight, have always interested me. A mood presented through both light and color are my preoccupation. Marks are achieved not only by laying in color but by wiping it away. The rhythm and transitory aspect of nature resonates in my imagination. These new works endeavor to cross the divide between what I do as a painter and what the viewer sees. Previous series include domesticated and wild animals portrayed with attitude in a surreal manner.
